Public Works Department Hosts RTI Sensitization Staff Durbar

On 22nd April 2026, the Public Works Department (PWD) organized a Staff Durbar in collaboration with the Right to Information Commission to sensitize staff on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2019 (Act 989).

The session provided staff with key insights into the legal framework governing access to information in Ghana, including application procedures, exemptions, offenses, and penalties under the Act. Participants were also educated on the responsibilities of public institutions in ensuring proper record-keeping, timely responses to requests, and compliance with RTI regulations.

The engagement emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance. Staff were encouraged to actively utilize the RTI law as a tool for promoting openness and combating corruption.

The program concluded with a renewed commitment by PWD to uphold the principles of the RTI Act and strengthen institutional transparency.
